TKAM post #3

The word auspicious means affording a favorable. Benevolence is an act of kindness. Incomprehensible is impossible to understand. Melancholy is an abnormal state attributed to an access of black bile and characterized by depression. The children see shadows in the windows of the Radley house and that is what creeps them out. Scout doesn't like school because her teacher, Miss Caroline, told her that her and Atticus didn't need to read anymore because he was teaching her wrong. She decided to give it another chance because Atticus told her if she did, they would go on reading at night. They don't know who or why they are putting things in the tree, but they think it is a school childs hiding place. Scout is the narrator of chapter 4. it was someones treasure and Scout ate it. Scout doesn't communicate with Atticus well because he is always busy with work. I think Mrs. Dubois is the school principal. The boys don't want Scout to play with them because she will tell Atticus about the things they are doing. Miss Maudie is racist because she is always saying how Atticus shouldn't defend black people in court. Being racist is racism or discrimination. Scout beats up Dill because she has a crush on him and the biggest problem in this chapter is they don't know who is putting all the treasures in the tree. Boo Radley gets his nickname because he commits a felony and everyone is afraid of him. Jem and Scout's uncle asks Miss Maudie to marry him every Christmas. She says no because she has already been married and doesn't want to get married again.
