Auspicious: promising success; propitious; opportune; favorable
Benevolence: desire to do good to others; goodwill; charitableness
Incomprehensible: impossible to understand or comprehend; unintelligible.
Melancholy: a gloomy state of mind, esp. when habitual or prolonged; depression.

2.In chapter 4, what is it about the house that scares the children so much?
I think it is because Scout thought that she heard laughing inside the house and they think that Boo Radley is still living in there.

3.What troubles is Scout having in school and why does she decide to give school another chance?
She is having trouble getting along with the teacher. She decides to give school another chance because Atticus talked her into it.

4.Why is someone leaving little things in the tree?
Jem and Scout think that it is a hiding place.

We think that it is because the kids don’t get gumm very often.

We think it is because Atticus is not at home very often and doesn’t talk to the children very much.

Mrs. Dubois is the meanest oldest lady. The boys wont let Scout play with them because she is a girl.

9.Is Miss Maudie racist? What does it mean to be racist?
Miss Maudie is not racist. Racist is a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.

11.Why does Scout beat up Dill? What is the biggest problem in this chapter?
Dill keeps calling Scout a girl so Scout beat up Dill. They get caught trying to give a note to Boo Radley
