TKAM - Assignment 4

Hello from Philadelphia! I hope you are all being angels for Mrs. Patterson while I'm gone. I'll be anxious to read the responses to this assignment this evening from my hotel room. You know the drill, respond to the following. Post an appropriate picture if you can. I realize posting pics from the laptops is rather difficult, but try. From the laptops, you need to use a web url to post a picture. If you paste the url into the upload box a picture should appear before you try to upload it. I had to try 4 different pictures the other day before I found one not blocked by filters. However, the most important thing is to respond to the following prompts.

  1. Describe what Scout, Jem, and Dill do on Dill's last night in Maycomb.
  2. How does Dill answer Scout's question, "But what in the sam holy hill did you wait till tonight?"
  3. Jem and Scout are very close at the beginning of this novel, but their relationship is changing. Using details from the story describe how the relationship is changing, and why you think they are changing?
  4. What does it mean when Scout says, "...I tried to climb in Jem's skin and walk around in it."? Why does she say this?
  5. When Jem sneaks out to gets his pants what does he find. Read the first two pages of Chapter 7. Is this a foreshadowing? Of what? Could this be somehow related to the gifts in the tree?
  6. Describe how Scout feels about 2nd grade and how Jem reassures her.
  7. What treasures do the children find in the tree in chapter 7?
  8. Who plugs the hole in the tree and why? Do you think the person who did it is being honest as to why he plugged it?
  9. Who do you think was putting the treasures in the tree?
  10. Try to post an approprite picture with your post.
I am watching to make sure you are rotating the writing in your groups. Have fun today. Tomorrow will ba another reading day. I'll see you on Monday.
