Heidi does have a bubbly affect on everybody. It makes everybody stop and listen to what she has to say.When Heidi reads the grandfather the story, I don't think she meant much with it but that it was a wonderful pasage and that she really liked it. When she read it I think that she wanted the Uncle to be happy and congratulate her for being able to read so well and that it was such a wonderful and beautiful story. But the real effect on him was that he was that son, that he was the drunkard and that he needed to ask for forgivness and do like the person in the story does. The reason that he was so mean to everybody was beause his parents died of shock and his brother went into hiding.(pp 7&8) I feel sorry for this man and since his parents are both dead that only way for him to ever not feel sorry for himself is to repent to the Lord. That is also the reason why he starts going back to church and makes those old ties and makes them tight. I honestly think that the Alm Uncle is turning his life around and is going to change for that good! "Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before Thee, and am no more worthy to be called Thy son! and great tears rolled down his cheeks."(pp. 66) I believe that the Uncle doesn't want Heidi to turn out like him and he wants to start making her live very good and with religion.
