TKAM - Final - John L.

I belive that the ending of the movie was a bit different than the book. For instance in the book Tom Robinson got shot seventeen times when he tried to escape from jail, in the movie he was escapeing on the way to the jail and got shot once. When Scout and Jem were going to the Halloween pagent they got scared by Cecil Jacobs in the book, Jem and Scout thought that Jacobs was trying to scare them on the way home. At the end Scout nearly got stabbed by Mr. Ewell but got saved by her costume. Over all I think the book had a lot more detail than the movie.

The end almost had the same outcome, like when the man that tried to hurt Jem and Scout fell on his knife, and Jem had a broken arm. Scout dressed as a ham in the book and the movie for the Halloween pagent and forgot her shoes in the school.

In the story and the movie they end in two different ways... In the story, it ends as Jem and Scout are walkling home from the school and Scout and Jem get into a fight with some older people that they dont know who. When they get home Atticus calls the doctor so they can check out Jem to make sure he's ok, and he was knocked out and had a broken arm. And Atticus tells Scout to take off her pants and shirt. In the movie, Scout and Jem were walking home from the school and get into a fight with people they dont know. Boo Radley carries Jem back to his house after he gets knocked out. When Scout goes running home Atticus calls the sheriff and the doctor to check out Jem to make sure he's ok. He has a broken arm, and at the very end the sheriff comes and tells Atticus and the family that Mr. Ewell had stabbed himself. These are both similar because in both of them tey get into a fight after they leave the school and Jem is knocked out and has a broken arm in both. They are different though because in the book Boo Radley doesnt carry Jem away andAtticus doesnt tell Scout to take off her clothes in the movie.

TKAM...

How the movie an book are different, is that toward the very ending of the movie, Jemwas incautious and in the book he wasn't.Another difference in the movie is when they announced that Tom Robinson died, they were not in a little get together little party thing, but in the book scout and calpurnia where with a few friends. Another difference was that at the very end of the book, atticus takes and puts scout into bed, but in the movie they conclude it with scout, jem, and Aticus in a room and Sout is on Atticuses lap.

In a few ways they are the same is that at the end of the movie Jem and Scout are on there way to the school. However Scout does also forget her shoes. Toward the end of the book there is a trial about the incident with mr. mayflower and Tom Robinson.
To conclude my essay, i have to say that the book was very good.

There are many similarities between the book and the movie of "To Kill A Mockingbird." Some similarities is that it was Halloween and Jem was Scout's escort to the play. Also, Scout lost her shoes in both the movie and the book. Next, Scout yelled something thinking it was Cecil Jacobs. Bob Ewell attacked them underneath the tree next to the old Radley place. Jem fought back and became unconscious. Boo Radley came and pulled Bob Ewell off of Scout and then he carried Jem home. Mr. Heck Tate asked Scout what happened and she found Boo Radley in the corner of the room. Boo was skinny and had blonde hair in both the movie and book. Then, out on the porch Atticus and Heck were discussing if Bob fell on the knife or if Jem stabbed him. Mr. Heck Tate decided that Bob fell on the knife and left. Finally, Scout walked Boo Radley back home.

Next, there are also very many differences. One of the differences is that Scout never mentioned that she had something shiny on her costume so that she could be seen in the dark in the movie. Second, they never looked at the punctures in her costume. Also, Aunt Alexandra never came out to get Scout and she was never mentioned in the movie. Finally, Cecil Jacobs never scared them before they went to the play in the movie.

In the book To Kill A Mockingbird, when Jem and Scout are walking home from the program Scout gets hung up in the barbedwire during the fight. In the movie, she just stands in her costume up against a tree and doesn't get thrown around. In the movie, Aunt Alexandra never came so there wasn't the ending that there was in the book. Also in the book when Mr. Heck Tate comes over to see what happened to Jem, he didn't stomp his foot to prove that Bob Ewell fell on his knife and Atticus didn't argue with him over the fact that Jem could have possibly stabbed Bob Ewell. In the movie, they totally skipped over the part that Scout was really worried about Jem and the doctor had to comfort her. In the book Jem had Scout's dress in his hand but Scout just didn't want to put it on. In the movie she couldn't find it after she took it off at the school for the program. Also in the movie Cecil Jacobs didn't scare them before they got to the schoolhouse.

In the end of To Kill A Mockingbird the movie and the book, have some similarities and they also have some diffrences.
Some of the similarities in the book and the movie are that in the movie they are going to get Scout's dress, because Scout tells Jem that she had left her dress and her shoes at school, so she had to go barefoot to the house. And they get in that fight with that person and it knocks Jem out to were he is unconsions. And Boo Radley finds Jem inconouse and then as Scout ran back to go tell Atticus. And Atticus had asked who brought him in and Scouts like hes right there just ask him ur self.
Some of the diffrences in the book and in the movie are that they are in a get-together when they find out the the police had shot and kill Tom Robinson, in the movie they just showed them going to his house to show respect. Another diffrence in the movie than the book is that in the book at the end Atticus had asked Scout to take her close off to see if she had any scares or bruses from the fight that they were in and in the movie it left of were Scout and atticus were by the window in the rocking chair. These are the similarities and diffrences that occur in the book and in the movie.

The endings of the movie and the books were similar in some ways. They were similar because they both ended with Bob Ewell attacking the kids while they were walking towards their house. They also both had Jem unconscious in bed, and Boo had stabbed Ewell in the ribs to save the children. Boo was also hiding in a corner when Mr. Tate came in to question people, and Mr. Tate said that instead of Boo or Jem stabbing Mr. Ewell, he simply fell on his own knife, as to avoid a trial and bad publicity. Scout had also walked Boo home.

They were different in many ways too. In the movie, Mr. Ewell, instead of spitting in Atticus's face near the 3rd quarter of the book, didn't do it until the end was almost there. Tom Robinson was also killed right after the trial, and instead of being shot more than 10 times, he was only shot once. The movie also skipped most of Scout's ending speech at the end of the book, instead only saying two or three sentences. And last, Cecil Jacobs never appeared in the movie, but was mentioned during the end.
